Looking for a QUIET refrigerator

So many brands, so many options -- and we have our preference - BUT - we would like a fridge that is QUIET!

If you own such an appliance, what brand, what type (side by side v french door v traditional freezer on top, etc)

AND does it have water and ice in the door -- or no?

Thank you in advance!

Ditto!!!!- We have Samsung that make annoying sound every 10 mintues. Sounds like a pumping sound, we shut off ice maker and water supply, but Im told its the compressor.

We have a 11 year old Whirlpool, French door with bottom freezer, and the only thing you hear is the ice dropping and if you are in the kitchen the water running for refilling the ice cube trays. I have never heard the compressor.

We have a 3 year old Whirlpool French door, bottom freezer that is very noisy. When the cooling cycle starts, there is a sound like a popping or gurgling that seems to go on forever. Even after the compressor stops the noise continues for several minutes. I’d love to find something quieter myself.

We have a builder installed Whirlpool and its noisy as a roller coaster. We’re in a spec house, moved in early 2019. Seems like it’s ALWAYS on – cooling, defrosting or whatever. It’s a 4 drawer with French drawers, a freezer drawer & another drawer in the middle that’s very handy. It’s model WRX 735SDHZ01, couldn’t find any other name on it & instruction booklet doesn’t have any names for it. Hope you don’t buy this one or its descendants. PLease let us know what you finally get & if it's quite.

1st time I have heard of a sound complaint about a refrigerator. Have a 4 year old Bosch counter depth. Very quiet(only hear ice falling) and have never had a problem. No ice/water in door. Had a Whirlpool which was subject to a class action suit involving water thru the door and a Kitchenaid. Both had water/ice problems with the door ice/water. Love the counter depth. Has a built in look without the Sub Zero price

I forgot to add consumer reports will probably have suitable sound ratings for refrigerators.

We have a KitchenAid model. Not sure what style it is. It has two side by side doors on top. Two side by side drawers in the middle and a large freezer drawer on the bottom. The only sounds it makes is the ice dropping and to a lesser degree the ice maker refilling with water. You can’t hear the compressor or fans running at all.

LG French door has been running very quiet now for 12 years. You do hear the ice drop and that is the only sound.

If my wife and I wanted to discourage anyone from hanging around the house when we were renting, we put the washing machine, dishwasher, dryer, then turned on the ice maker, all at the same time.
We were under the impression Americans just loved noisy appliances.
In all our twenty years overwintering in TV, never heard a quiet appliance.

Same here with the ice maker dropping ice and the water filling but that's all the noise our GE Profile makes. The compressor is silent. The fridge is at least 11 years old. It was in our home when we purchased in 2009. It has French doors and bottom freezer.

I have a normal one door fridge and freezer on top Whirlpool with no built in ice machine and it's super quiet.

We have a new build house. All the appliances are GE, and very quiet. The fridge is a base model side by side. Unless the door open times out and chimes we never know its running. The dishwasher we don’t even know when it’s running unless it chimes when starting or it’s finished. I’d say that’s a win win.

We have a French door LG that is probably 5+ years old & it is very quiet (now) but was extremely fussy about being level. Also, sites like this may offer helpful information: The 10 Quietest Refrigerators Currently On The Market | ChatterSource

Just do not buy Samsung. Read the class action lawsuit about it.
