That is a very beautiful and dramatic work of art. I have never seen or heard of it before. Thank you so much for bringing it to our attention.

Google News shows some articles in '04 and '06 in NYT, Philadelphia Inquirer, St. Lois Post Dispatch, a few others. Coverage appears to have been limited. That does seem odd. Whatever the full story, the statue itself is beautiful.

It's a beautiful statue located at the Cape Liberty cruise port. The RCCL cruise ship Explorer of the Seas sails past it whenever coming in or going out on a cruise. Have enjoyed the view many times:clap2:

The Snopes article did state:

"Contrary to the claim of the eRumor, the announcement of the intended memorial as well as its dedication did receive nationwide news coverage including a visit to New Jersey on September 15, 2005, by Russian president Vladimir Putin for the groundbreaking ceremony."

Perhaps more coverage would have been nice, but with all due respect I don't think "nationwide news coverage" warrants a "didn't get much press" status!
