Homeowners insurance

How do you get homeowners insurance on a preowned property if companies aren’t willing to write them because roof was before 2021?

I would talk with an insurance agent such as The Villages Insurance or another independent agency

State Farm?
Others will chime in and there have been many previous threads. Try Villages Insurance.

Not going to believe what I heard? Person inquired about homeowners insurance on pre-owned home and said would NOT insure any home with in 2 miles (2MILES) from any previous sinkholes. That my friend eliminates 1/2 of villages. IMO anybody was quoted this need contact state insurance commissioner file complaint. Somebody in or knowledge in insurance say it isn’t so?

Tammy is a licensed insurance agent who takes the time to discuss coverage and get you the coverage that will protect you for the best premium. The companies she writes with allow roofs up to 20 years.

Do your homework, it’s available. Just getting much more expensive and with lesser known insurers. Almost nobody would buy a preowned home if insurance wasn’t available, and pre owned home sales are closing all the time.

The companies that insure an old roof here in Florida are Reciprocal Insurance Companies. Not rated well. Usually only a few years in the business. What are their resources if you have a total loss from fire? Do your research. Reciprocal Insurance companies are not the same as national companies such as All State, AAA, etc.

For the record, I just got my renewal notice from Progressive. The premium increased by 4 percent to $1,202 for one year. My roof is 8 years old.

Give State Farm a call. They have age restrictions and I believe that they will not insure homes over 20 years old

Was in the biz 5 years ago and do not know of any law that forbids insurors from doing this. Friend needs to work with an independent agent since those agents represent numerous insurance companies
