Need referral: acupuncturist for a dog

I have a dog who is not being able to hold down any food other than liquids. She's been up to UF small animal hospital in Gainesville, no obstructions, labs normal, no foreign items swallowed nor other obvious physical abnormalities, nor allergens. Xrays taken all normal. 10 hours in their waiting room 5pm -> 3:30am. Long day.

Chinese medicine calls this "rebellious qi", which seems to fit what is going on with her.

Does anyone know of someone who does acupuncture on animals? I'll be heading up to Ocala to Earth Origins to see if that health food store knows of anyone up around there.
Just looking for help in solving this, regarding my dog, so please don't send me sarcastic comments. I just am looking for some help and appreciate it. Thanks.

There are several veterinary offices that handle pet acupuncture, outside of TV. Over 15 years on this site have never noticed any mention for reviews.

One of our vets did mention if your pet has eaten certain pests (cockroaches/lizards) can upset their system for weeks. Our cat tried to eat a cockroach she caught on the lanai. For a week she vomited. Mostly black horrid smelling vomit and feces.

Took 10 days before she kept enough water down. Her weight dropped from 6.5 to 3.9lbs. We thought for sure she was gone. But slowly using syringes hourly we kept her hydrated.

She was 12 @ the time, now at 16 she no longer chases crawling things on the lanai

If UF emergency in Ocala, couldn’t give you ideas, because nothing showed in films, then could have been a pest

I don't know if you ever found someone to help your dog or not. I hope you have. I can't tell you from experience anyone in the area that can help. I did a quick google search "homeopathic acupuncture vets" and some vets came up, but I don't know anything else about them.

Thirteen years ago we lived in SE Florida. We took one of our dogs to a homeopathic vet in Stuart Florida to get a 2nd opinion. Our vet had given her 6 months to live. Stuart Florida is about about 3 hours from here. Our dog was 11 years old at the time and her heart wouldn't have been able to take surgery, and the other treatments wouldn't work for her. For what it's worth here is a link to the vet we used.

This homeopathic vet was unable to help our dog. However, he took the time to talk to me about helping our other dog (who wasn't with me at this visit) about her severe allergies. And the information he gave me did help our other dog, along with other research my husband did at the time.

I'm sure you've already thought of this but have you introduced anything new to your dog's diet? Has anyone else in your household fed your dog anything? Has your dog gotten into anything in your yard that could be causing this reaction? Has your dog gotten loose by mistake?

I wish you all the best with this and I hope by now your dog has recovered.

Even though this post screams out loud for sarcastic replies, I hope everyone refrains and your dog gets better.

Sarcastic? I sometimes wonder what some think is funny. Not likely to change people. Far as posts. Some were always the class clown and still are.

As requested, suppressing any HUMOR. You have the tests. You probably have or should have a written report. My understanding or people you are not happy with what they told you. I WOULD GET ANOTHER OPINION

Far as acupuncture for pets, I've never heard of it. if, it exists surely you will find it on the internet. Medicine? As a kid-long time ago. My friends father was a doctor and had a home office. When it was closed we used to sneak in and read stuff like AMA journal. LONG TIME AGO. I recall an article when a patient calls with a complaint get them in quickly. Most things cure themselves and you miss a billing.

,

This may sound a bit dumb, but what foods have you actually been feeding your dog?

Is it a puppy or mature dog?

Has it always had this problem?

What are the liquids it can digest?

The Sumter County Animal Hospital on Main St. (U.S. 301) in Wildwood offers acupuncture and chiropractic services. There is a veterinarian at this practice who is trained in administering these treatments. Good luck. I hope your dog recovers.

Not sure if this would help this particular doggy patient. But don’t forget some high quality CBD’s for your dog, 3 times a day. Many dogs could use the power of CBD’s. As CBD’s are known to help with a variety of dog issues. A Google/DuckDuckGo search will be your friend here.

Contact Shana Cantwell at Medicine Wheel in Ocala. I’ve been there several times but not for acupuncture. Wish she was in the Villages.

Try giving a probiotic! Helps a relatives dog a lot! There are special doggie probiotics…ask vet for recommendations.

Seems to me that if the vets issued such a clean bill of health, the problem with your dog is what it's eating.
I bred, raced, coursed greyhounds for many years, and without any diagnosed underlying medical condition, only had one dog that showed such symptoms as you describe, and it was sorted out by finding out which individual food was causing the digestive problem.
Acupuncture will not cure it. May give some pain relief, but that's about it.
Used all such alternatives aiding dogs to recover from injury. Acupuncture, ultrasound, osteopathy, and in most cases to good effect, but not for an undiagnosed digestive problem.
It's a process of elimination regarding food intake.
Not a gambling man anymore, but would certainly place a good few bucks on your dog's diet is the major factor in its problem.
Knowing the dog's age etc. and how the problem started would help.

I second Kelly Vernon. She did PT on our Golden. Really knows what she's doing, so I would trust her with acupuncture.
