Relocating water softener
Hello, I searched for a thread but couldn’t find anything, my water softener is currently in the front corner of my garage, I need to replace it and would like to move it to the back of the garage by my garage sink. I would like to run the water lines in the attic and use PEX, anyone have any experience in do this? Any issues? Thanks

Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable having a water pipe in the attic. It can get cold enough to freeze.

I would run the pvc pipes along the inside of the wall maybe at ceiling height, be sure you consider the drain also, you do not want a low spot.
Let me add if you end up with a "trap" aka a low spot in the drain line this poses a health risk as I understand it, be very careful if you need to run this line any length. Also, in our house these lines are larger 3/4 or 1" lines, not sure if I have seen PEX in this size. Next you will need to consider the connection of PEX to PVC (no idea on this) and you absolutely need to make sure you have the correct tools to make the crimp connections on the PEX lines. |
