Assissted Living Places in Villages
Hello.
Just found out last night that a neighbor is going to look into an assissted living place in the near future. It must be in the Villages and have the amenities. Maybe even the ability to get around in her golf cart. Any suggestions? Thanks. Bud |
Watercress
Only one I know about is Watercress on 466 next to sprouts. You get the same benefits as a regular village resident. In fact they pay your amenity fee. Get one spot in a covered garage and second vehicle would be outside. A one bedroom cost $6100.00 and that’s just regular with no assisted living so I’m guessing over $7000.00 a month but that is every cost you can think of other than cell phone.

Watercress
Forgot to mention they were just bought out last week so things may change.

Just off the top of my head there's Buffalo Crossing and Freedom Point. Both have resident parking and are golfcart accessible.

Another choice is Sumter Senior Living on Rt 466A. Note that there is a huge difference between independent living and assisted living. With assisted living, you do not get your own apartment, and you pay by the month based on the level of care that you need. With independent living, you don't get any medical care. Of the 4 facilities mentioned, Freedom Pointe is the best, and the most expensive.

Due to the massive concentration of a senior citizen demographic, I'm always surprised it is not the epicenter of American gerontology. I figured every doctor specializing in such, and every service geared toward the populace (like assisted living!) would be in abundance here. I find it shocking the opposite is true.

Assisted living but needs access to amenities and golf cart?
Independent living with an aid visiting has advantages including control of who is the aid. |
I'm no youngster, but I haven't reached the stage where I need assisted living, I did look into it when my wife took ill.
Most of these places have there only recreation for their residents. Now I'm assuming at a point if she is looking into assisted living, she needs help and I'm also assuming she has lived here in The Villages for a while and has many friends. My suggestion is for her to find a place nearby that best serves her needs that is the most important thing to worry about and if she does have friends here, she can always use the facilities in The Villages as a guest. |

My wife and her nephew-in-law both work in medical center hospitals, and one works in HR. Doctors can get picky about where they work, the housing availability, the quality of housing and surrounding amenities for lack of a better word, outside the bubble. Also, given the rates of Medicare reimbursement, there is not a mix of commercial payers to balance out the negative margins of generontology, which requires most gerontologists to be associated with a large hospital system where they can be subsidized with a higher profitability reimbursement mix. |
Buffalo Crossings has an assisted living building behind their rehab center You are able to use the villages amenities. but you must get a pass from their office to do so. Located right next door to Hobby Lobby.

My father was at Watercrest for a year in memory care. They have a beautiful facility and offer independent living and assisted living, and golf cart accessible. Since memory care ran $6800 3 years ago, I would say assisted living runs $5500-$6500. You do get your own apartment with assisted living. The facility has gourmet chefs, a wine bar, a pool, gym, spa, many activities including shopping trips.
