Florida Cracker Feed Lot

We went to the most wonderful place for lunch today. Located in Webster, about 30 minutes from TV, faster if you live in the Southern area. It’s in a cattle/swap meet lot and they make really good food. I got shrimp and grits and they were made differently than I ever saw. First of all the grits were fried, and looked like a piece of cake, instead of boiled. Then they put quite a few shrimp on there (my biggest complaint was they were too small to have any real shrimpy taste), then covered it in tomato gravy with pieces of tomato in it. Then on top there was piece of bacon and a green onion. All for only $13.50! Then I got a strawberry cup that had real fresh strawberries! Who does this?

The hub got chicken livers that weren’t dried out, and they asked if he wanted them hot, mild, or spicy. Needless to say, he was confused. (He ended up getting spicy)

We noticed they had lots of things on the menu and watching what came out of the kitchen made my mouth water. It wasn’t a fancy place but we got there a little late (almost 2) and we had to wait awhile to get a table. Which was remarkable since the town was so small. We’re going back . . . soon!

Yup. Years ago it was the Speckled Butterbean Restaurant. It's owned by the people that run Lunch On Limoges in Dade City. Unique place.

The cheesy club on their menu sounds delicious.

I wonder if they are owned by the same people who own Florida Cracker Kitchen in Homosassa at the riverside resort.

Yes, they have four locations - one in Dade as well.
