Sliding Door Lock

My house was built in 2013. On the sliding door, I need to replace the locking mechanism. One of the screws will not tighten, and when I took it apart I found the screw was ok, but it's the plate it screws into is stripped. I want to get an exact lock replacement. What's the best way to go about this?

Lowe’s, Home Depot, or Amazon. Look for your style. I replaced both of mine, but my house was built in 2002. Don’t know if they are same?

You might try Mr. Grips Screw Hole Repair Kit

Amazon.com

Depending on the type and size of the screw, I have threaded inserts that go into the metal like a pop rivet but are actually a threaded insert. I would need to see the parts, I think the smallest insert is a #10 24 thread. The kit has both steel and aluminum inserts.

Going to Lowes and have a look around. I'm wondering are sliding glass door looking mechanism's standard size? As long as it fits and works I'm happy.

I had to do a little cannibalizing but I got what I needed @Lowes. All is well.

Glad to hear it.

Take the lock off and bring it to Ace Hardware, Lowe’s or Home Depot. Have them match it and put the new one back. Easy fix

For future reference, you can check with Romac lumber in Leesburg. I know they supplied the windows and patio doors for a lot of the houses in the villages and they carry spare parts. I had a bad retraction spring in one of my windows and they carried the springs. The brand of the windows is CWS.

Amazon had an exact replacement for my 2008 home.
