Toll Rd Question
Well, I'm finally a proud TV homeowner, and I'll be driving one of my cars across this great nation of ours in a few weeks. I'll be heading east on Interstate 10, and then south on 75 and I guess getting off at 44 to get to the Villages. I know that there's a toll coming north from MCO, but can anyone tell me if there is a toll coming south as described above?
Much appreciated, and looking forward to joining everyone in a few weeks. |

The turnpike is the first exit southbound after SR44, although the first exit on the turnpike from I-75 which exits at 301 is not tolled.

Bring your checkbook, you will get dinged a bit for bringing cars into Florida. IIRC, it is based on vehicle weight. Go to the Government Building at Pinellas. Nice, professional folks that will walk you through it. You can also apply for homestead exemption and register to vote.

Also stop in at the Sheriffs HQ and get your VIN number verified.

Welcome to Florida and The Villages, not sure about the VIN verification, we brought 4 vehicles south, as I recall (11 years ago) it was $300 to $500 per vehicle, we needed to take the actual vehicle to the Pinellas center so the state personnel could verify the mileage and VIN number, and yes they were very helpful. You may want to call ahead to verify any other documentation you need to bring with you to get your new plate and registration.

Taking the Turnpike exit from southbound I-75, the first exit is Wildwood/The Villages, which is not tolled. Everything after that is.

Before you apply for license plates you will need Fl insurance on the car and 2 forms of ID that you are now residing in The Villages. My car was not financed so I am not sure about that part. They will issue you plates right then after you pay the fee. You will sign up for voting registration, and take a picture for your physical license. Not sure if it is sent to you or you get that while you are there. If there is anything to add or delete others will confirm.

Upon further investigation: “VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS: All motor vehicles not currently titled in Florida must have the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) verified by a law enforcement officer, Florida notary public, or at the Tax Collector's office.“ |
