Huge field south of Rio Grande Rec Center.
 

What's with the field that is just south of the Rio Grande Recreational Center? From the Lake County Property Appraiser website's map it looks like much of this land is owned by the Villages but with just a few holdouts. http://www.lakecopropappr.com/

I know there are gopher tortoises on this land as well as farmers who grow crops there or perhaps it is a farmer with a lease?

Some people take their pooches there to wander around in the 40 or more acre field. There is even a well worn walking path down the middle of the field from walkers as well as dog walkers. I have seen both people with and without dogs in this field.

You do however have to watch out for poop near the walking path.

I would think that they could put in a whole new Village or maybe even several of them in this field-- the Village of Red River or perhaps the Village of the Ohio?? That's working with the river theme of Rio Grande.
