Espresso: The Rabbit Hole

Anyone here an espressophile?

I have just recently fallen into the rabbit hole. Amazingly, when I searched on the Rec site, I didn't find an espresso club.

I wouldn't mind getting one started if I can find 1 or 2 like-minded souls.

I drink a modified cappuccino every morning. Six ounces of Cafe Bustelo with steamed foamed low-fat milk, 1 teaspoon sugar, and a shake of cinnamon powder. It's basically 3x-diluted espresso. We have a real espresso machine too but it's a pain in the butt to use and takes forever for the water to build up enough pressure for even a single shot.

Where do i sign into your club?

I used to like espresso. And then I got tired of all the "experts" telling me I was doing literally everything wrong (in their "humble" opinion) from the beans, the grinding and the packing, to the machine, the quantity and the cup. If I cared what anyone thought, I would have developed an inferiority complex.

Drip, on the strong setting, is easier anyway. Good enough. You wouldn't want me in your club, lol. :mornincoffee:

Not that far along yet. But stay with me. You can be my co-founder. One issue that came to mind after I posted was that this would not be a good "evening" activity for me. A better morning activity, since participants will likely be leaving with a significant caffeine buzz.

Your thoughts?

I have a really old moka pot, that I still use. On the counter is Jura 8, I use because it’s quick and convenient. Just press a button for perfection, especially for company.
But not a fan of the counter space it requires, so it may travel to one of the kids coffee stations in their house. My son send beans from a roaster that makes a less caffeinated blend for us. I just don’t need the caffeine jolt like some

As far as cups, I have them all, but have been known to pull down a Disney mug if I haven’t run the dishwasher

I have had a super automatic machine for many years. I'm currently on my 3rd. At the moment I have a Jura S8. I have 3-4 cappuccinos daily. I love that thing! I'm too lazy for manual machines.
