Front Entry Door Replacement
 

It could be that I'm just bad at searching, but I can find virtually no info or recommendations on front entry door replacement. Even trying to find such places on google maps is not very fruitful.

So...does anyone have any recommedations on a company that replaces front entry doors? Ours is 20 years old and has seen better days (and we just don't like it). As we are winding down our interior reno, we are moving on to some exterior items. In addition to front entry door, we are also looking at door to garage from kitchen and rear sliders. I appreciate any recommendations.

Went there. They put the hard sell on for just replacing the glass and giving the door a 'tune up' . They had very little interest in doing a door replacement; indeed, tried to scare us away from that option ("it requires permits and you're looking at at least $8,000"). We nodded our heads, and left.

Yeah we may up going this route. There is at least a few different manufacturer options there.

So are you wanting to increase the size of the opening or just switching out the slab door? The reason I ask is that you can easily switch a slab and change out the brick molding if you wanted. A slab switch would run you a lot less and if you cut for the hinges (which is easy), your door could be extremely far less than 1k or even 2k for the fanciest of doors. You can replace just the leg to match the hinged door you want also. Removing the framed door is only necessary if widening. Every part of a door is designed to be individually replaced.

I have replaced several doors, including exterior french door legs, glass and slabs. l used Pease Doors out of Ohio. Fair shipping rates.

We are not increasing the size of the opening. Just looking to replace old door with new door. There is a sidelight as well which we’d be replacing to match the door.

Sumter doesn't require it, but Lake requires an "engineer's blueprint/plan or aka: draftsman drawing" on any work. The engineer's plan is a minimum $1,000 plus a few extra $ for the description of detailed work and what products will be used. Absolutely ridiculous. Then you go and pay the county or city for the permit. It's a scam.

Permits should not be required to change out for same. Hope you live in Sumter. But if not, Romac Building Supply can handle drawings and products, along with install if you need it.

Makes me glad we do not live in Lake County
