Local TV station coverage options
 

Hi all,
I've seen so many threads on Internet providers as well as streaming options, but I need to better understand how to provide "local" TV broadcast stations.

1) Get an over-the-air digital antenna (attic or roof mounted)
2) Subscribe to YouTube TV or some other streaming provider
3) Other options?

Currently using Comcast Xfinity for basic Internet plus YouTube TV for all-in-one streaming provider. Totals about $120/mo....

I have an LG tv and it gets more channels than what I used to have with YouTube TV, for free. I watched the Super Bowl, Formula1 etc free. I get a bit of Orlando news, and CNN and Fox and etc. I can’t believe I used to pay for service… but it does not have a PVR and I do get ads.

Last week I installed an OTA antenna on my villa in Sabal Chase. I aimed it toward Orlando . I receive ABC,NBC,CBS,Fox, PBS as well as several dozen additional options. I got my antenna from Amazon:

The only down side is that it can easily be connected to just one TV (without doing some extensive wiring).

Where on your villa did you place the antenna?

I've got an attic mounted antenna with an external booster (attic is too hot and fried the last one I had with the internal booster). It's in my garage attic and feeds into my communications box in the garage. If you don't have that, getting the cables to where you need them will require more work.

Search "antenna" on this forum, and you will find plenty of examples of what people have done.

If you can use an OTA antenna for your local channels, then you can get a streaming service like Sling which doesn't have locals (unless you pay for them) and has two packages - Blue and Orange. You can buy one or both, but if you are just ok with one, it can save you some money.
