Golf in the villages

Today we were told by the Sun and people who commented for the story, how all of the golf courses here are in pristine condition.

Guess anyone who differs is just wrong.

Was this in the paper today? On April 1st of all days? If that's the case, I applaud the sense of humor of whoever let that one slip by.

The story could be half true. Some of the most diseased greens like Havana and Turtle Mound were overseeded by annual rye grass, which will die off as summer approaches. The rye grass disguises the weak poor greens. Havana closes April 7th for complete renovation. Turtle Mound later this year.

I do not think they printed as april fools joke, sun does not have that kind of sense of humor. I think it was telling the general population that the golf courses are great

I want to publicly thank the Village Sun for telling everyone that my most favorite and conveinient local executive course is now open and in great shape, after being under renovation for god knows how long(they never did say how long it was down in the article). They made this front page news to make sure it gets overplayed and returns to its former condition as soon as possible.

Thanks again.

If they didn’t want the courses to be overplayed, they would build the same amount of holes per rooftop south of 44 as what exists north of 44 (not counting putting and pitch and putts).

This again?! My wife and I both golf. We never travel north of 44 to play, and we rarely fail to get a tee time despite being in groups. We both play multiple times a week.

Based on all the complaints on here about the state of the golf course here thought there would be more comments about the Sun article.

I'm shocked there are still people who read the Sun ... or any printed newspaper, for that matter.

I haven't held a "newspaper" in my hands, in well over 25 years. Why would I?

It takes awhile to get the new roots nice and deep and healthy. My guess is the Village's waited until April to open Amberwood to help protect the greens from over use. Good luck with that. De La Vista and Walnut Grove are next to be renovated. I guess Saddlewood and Hawkes Bay will have to wait.

And thanks for mentioning the name of the course in this thread. Great public service.

Which is pretty much what is happening. Formula: one champ course for every 5,000 homes and one exec for each 1,500. About 20,000 homes built/to be built south of 44. There are 2 champs open and 2 under construction---voila! There are 6 execs open and many more under construction. If you can't get a tee time, you are not putting in enough courses, not enough of a time span, or have players that have accumulated massive amounts of play points. Alternative: wait until June:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

I agree with the article for the most part, the exec courses I've been playing this year have been a lot better than last year at this time. A few weeks ago I played Wilson (everybody's favorite) and it was night and day compared to last year.
