Cane Garden Allamanda

Played Jacaranda to Allamanda yesterday. Allamanda greens are in the worst condition I have seen on any course in the 11 years I have lived here. Jacaranda was not as bad but not very good.

Such a shame. I hear they are going to redo this very soon, just in time.

The other day the Sun had an article telling us how the courses are in great shape with comments from villagers saying the same.

Oh well.

It is next on the schedule, after Havana is completed.

Cane Garden is getting so little play that Allamanda is often closed.

Have not heard this but hope you are correct. Know that all 9"s at Havana are being re done

We played Allamanda a couple of weeks ago. The dirt on the greens was painted green, but after adjusting for the extra speed, they did putt true. Jacaranda was just the opposite, greens had a lot of grass on them and they were slow. We took Cane Garden out of our rotation, Cane lost 24 golfers for awhile (a loss of over $1,400 for our group). Too bad we have to wait until Havana's golf course is renovated. I feel sorry for those players and groups that don't have priority.

I have suggested that they drill and fill instead of just the 4 inch aerification. My advice falls on deaf ears. Drilling down 10 inches with 3/4 inch holes a few times a year can really help until they can get around to renovating those old greens.

I suspect the Contractor doesn't have the necessary equipment for a drill & fill.

The contractor responsible for Cane Garden, is awful in my opinion. I haven't gone near the place in 3 years. It's an insult to Golf Course Superintendents everywhere, for the guy in charge of Cane Garden, to call himself that.

Generally speaking, the Championship courses are currently in unusual good shape, especially now that everything is greening up. During the almost 10 years we have owned a home in the Villages, you have to go back at least 7-8 years to experience the generally good conditions that currently exist. That being said, Cane Garden is definitely the exception. Not sure what happened to the greens at Cane, but dam, they suck. Somebody really screwed up and should be held responsible for the unacceptable conditions. There are no good excuses given how nice the other courses are playing.

I only play Palmer, Glenview, TDS & Mallory. All are in the best condition I've seen in years.

IMO, the situation at Cane Garden relates to the maintenance crew/management cutting corners and generally being incompetent. I feel like I've typed this before .... you need look no further than the large landscaped area, to the right of the Green on #4 (& behind the 5th Tee) of Hibiscus. It's a beautiful, landscaped area, that cost a lot of money to build. It looks like not a single maintenance worker has stepped into that area, since the day it was built.

I've been told at one time, Hibiscus was the most played 9 holes on campus. It surely one of the better 9 hole routings, it's a shame it's in such poor condition.

Lopez, and much to my surprise, Hacienda Hill's greens are excellent. We love the greens at TDS, Glenview and Palmer.

Cane Garden can rent the equipment for drilling and filling. It's a temporary fix for any of the old Bermuda grass greens.

Hemingway at Havana Golf Club has gassed their grass, renovation is underway.

It could be the guy and his friends that drive all over Allamanda 6 & 7 almost every evening within the last hour before dark. They just don't respect the course, plus they are terrible golfers.

I believe that article was about the exec courses.
