Hurt Large Bird on our Lawn
We live in the Villages on Kittredge Loop, BriarMeadows. Woke up this AM to find a large Blue Heron (we think) alive but crippled on our front lawn. Maybe hit by a car. The bird is currently alive but cannot walk. We are looking for some agency that will either rescue/rehab or humanely euthanize. State wildlife say they cannot help.
Thank You. |
Call Community Watch. They know who to call for various injured wildlife.

Thanks for suggestion. We did call them they gave us the number of someone named Anita, who would like to help but is currently not available. She told us where we can take the bird, but we are both elderly and looking for help in getting the bird safely in a large plastic tub so we can transport it. It did try to bite me when I put a bowl of water in front of it.

Personally, I wouldn't go near the bird. I would call the county for assistance.

I found this info at villagesbirders.org ( resources)
Wildlife Alert Hotline 1-888-404-3922 Rescuing Ocala Wildlife 352-234-6098 |
We went to move the bird and it had passed away. We will dispose of carcass tomorrow.
Thank to all who replied. |
