Sprinkler System help

I’m in need of a sprinkler system person to service my system.
One that doesn’t charge an arm and a leg. One that cleans the grass around the heads. Someone you have used and are reliable.
Thank you

The least expensive service I could find was Massey. They charge me $40 per quarter to inspect my system, make adjustments, and repair any components. Sometimes, there is a charge to make a repair. Also, if I have a leak, I can call them and they will respond quickly and make repairs for free or for a nominal charge. If you don't have a regular service, you are stuck with calling around and possibly waiting days or weeks, and you never know how much they will charge for a one time visit. I recommend finding a company who will do regular inspection and maintenance.

It is easy to find a good sprinkler guy to come one time and charge you $100 to $200 to correct a problem. But, if they don't offer an ongoing maintenance service, the next time you call them, they may not be available, or they will most likely charge you the same fee again.

Just be careful. Most irregation "guys" charge $90-$100 just to come to you then so much per hour plus parts. I understand these guys have a business and have to charge these prices but for the most part irregation maintenance is cheap and most of the time you can do it yourself. This is why I recommend Chuck. No minimum charge and whatever is charged is very reasonable.

I had a neighbor who have a bad valve diaphragm, very common, that costs $2.50 for the part at Lowes. It takes about 20 minutes to replace and test. His irrigation company charged him $500 for the repair. Chuck does these all the time, I believe he charges less than $50 but you need to check with him.

So, don't get ripped-off.

We used massey for irrigation when we first moved here. In the year we used them they sent 5 different guys doing it 5 different ways. Constantly asked them to call to make an appt before coming and they never did that.

So finally found a neighbor who did it for others and used him for past couple of years with great success. He is not looking for new customers now.

I don't allow Massey to make any adjustments to my controller because I know more about it than they do. I just use them to make sprinkler adjustments and to repair leaks. When I have a leak, I can depend on them to come quickly and to repair it for a nominal fee. I don't want to be stuck trying to find a new guy everytime I have a leak. One visit to make a repair can cost as much as I pay Massey all year. I also use Massey to mow my grass, so, if they break a sprinkler, they can't blame someone else.

Do want I did.
Went to a local irrigation supply store and ask who they would recommend.
Easy peasy

We're happy with Sprinklers & Stinkers. We had a sprinkler-related problem, Andrew arrived on a Saturday, quickly diagnosed what was wrong, provided a detailed description as well as pictures/video, and the cost. He fixed the problem in a timely manner, and made suggestions regarding future maintenance.

We use ACI Irrigation. I believe $50 per quarter for the maintenance check plus any parts. They call to make appointments and seem to have good employee retention.

That is not what they told me. Their price was $89 just to show up plus parts and additional labor as needed. No quarterly maintenance service or ongoing agreement.

Andyb 04-12-2025 07:24 AM

I found ACI to be very expensive.

I to try and do repairs as much as I can. All those Youtube 'how to videos" sure do help. The hardest part is getting back up after I've been on the ground for a long time!
