If you were buying a home today- home owners insurance
 

A lot has changed over the last years.

If you gave advice to someone new today... buying a house... who would you recommend in these times for homeowners insurance.

Why?

We have been with Progressive for over 10 years, but for a new home buyer, I would suggest getting an independent insurance agent and have them get several quotes for the specific house. New house, versus resale are very different, make sure you have the age of the roof and major appliances, and the age of the house for the quote.

I would recommend whatever Company that is willing to give you a competitive rate and has a good AM Best claims paying ability rating. Why, because those Companies are few and far between these days in Florida.

Stay away from The Villages insurance! My agent was 1/2 the cost with better covera!
