HVAC and Dryer Vent Cleaning
I have solicited TOTV contractors for vent cleaning for a 2000 sq. ft. home with 13 exhaust vents and 1 main return. Quoted prices are ~$1000. Is this reasonable from TV residents’ experiences?

Cleaning the ceiling vents is an easy DIY project. I would not clean the flexible ducts in the attic because it will not be effective and it could damage the ducts. Cleaning the dryer vent is a good idea, but that should cost less than $100.

I agree with above post. They show you pictures and make you think it will increase CFM or help with allergens. I have installed or repaired many HVAC systems in my past, never came across one even close to the pics they show. Pick up a endoscope/borescope for 50 bucks and take a look yourself or have them show you your pipes.
I know 1000 isn't all that much, but if you are giving it away, then go ahead and change the air in your tires with fresher air. I can do that for 500. :jester: |
I agree with both of the previous posts, and will add depending on your house model, the dryer vent could be a DIY project. Ours unfortunately goes all the way up though the roof (not an outside wall) so I actually need a brush that is almost 20 feet long....

Thanks to everyone for their advice. You just convinced me to forget the HVAC vents, but I will do the dryer vent.
