Probably got hit by vehicle from inattentive driver. Two in my area always crossing street where vehicles fly down street 35 mph plus. Iām surprised they ran the gauntlet this long without getting ran over.

Injured Sandhill
Several years ago a neighbor called trying to get help for a female sandhill with a mangled leg. She was told to let nature take its course.Luckily she recovered, and still visits with her mate and seasonally with her young. You can tell by the way she holds her injured leg.
Glad there are rescues that can help save some of the injured birds. |

the first group that comes to mind are these people:
Village Birders | The Village Birders, this is from their site: If you come upon an injured bird within The Villages, the recommended first step is to call Community Watch at 352-753-0550 to report the situation. Community Watch will refer the matter to a local licensed rehab expert. |
