Turtle Mound

It’s been a LONG time since we played Turtle Mound .
The first picture posted is hole #1 . I thought we would be in trouble after seeing this condition. The next couple of holes were not much better but then the condition changed dramatically to the better. I do have to say that most of the greens were in good condition. They were all very slow. Tee boxes were a mix of good and bad and the course , like many others, is extremely dry due to the current drought. One comment about the course difficulty rating. They list it as a Level 1 ….. no way, IMHO ! Should be listed minimally as a Level 2 if not a Level 3. I base this mostly because there are many greens well guarded with traps…. Again , that’s my opinion. You are all free to rate it according to your own opinion. Overall, I would rate the course a C + to a B - PS- The sand that can be seen around each green is their attempt to improve the condition around the greens… |
I loved playing Turtle Mound last week probably because I shot a 25

I agree about the rating of Turtle Mound.
It seems to me that the lake in the center has greatly increased in size in the 16 years that I’ve been here. At least a 2 or 3 |
Turtle mound
The course should be shut down and allowed to recover. If I was a ground crew I would be embarrassed.

I agree. Played there yesterday. The greens are atrocious. Played Sandhill today which is right across Buenos Vista from Turtle Mound. The greens are perfect.
