Great career, one of the all time best CEO’s. On the other hand, it’s kind of sad that anyone would want to work until they’re 94. We’re supposed to work to live, not live to work. Hopefully he’ll have a few healthy years of retirement.

I think people who work in certain fields that aren’t the typical 9-5 like their jobs and like working. I cannot stand the retired lifestyle. I live here but I work. I travel for my job and just need a base. I was born in Lake Co. I never want to retire. I make great money and work about 4 months out of the year. Fixed income? No thank you.

He will probably still be actively involved in the decisions.

I agree. Being able to do what one loves is what counts, at least to me. At 83 I continue to oversee the managers of my commercial properties. It takes only a few hours a week and I still enjoy being involved in the business.

I liked the fact that he REFUSED to move to NY.

He is NOT the only one in stocks and bonds that would not retire even after accumulating more money than they could spend in a lifetime.I suppose that the word "obsessive" applies here.

That is like the expression," different strokes for different folks".

Nothing sad about it. He lives his life on his own terms. If he wanted to retire earlier, he would have, and he is wealthy enough that he could easily afforded it.

A smart, practical guy who calls our current economic policy ignorant

Warren Buffett:

A Genius and A Decent Human Being

I have loved him for decades.

I have spent many, many hours reading Warren Buffett while listening to Jimmy Buffett. . .both of them so good with words.

Every now and then, I look up that long list of quotes from Warren Buffett. Brilliant and so clearly and cleverly worded.

One of my favorite quotes though was from Charlie Munger. I heard him say it when I watched his last BRK meeting.

In the Q & A, a guy asked Charlie what advice he should give his kids.

To which Charlie replied, without hesitation, "Tell them to hold the goddamn stock."

Boomer

(Forgive the swearing. It is a direct quote. I can still see Charlie saying it. It is also the reason boring, longtime value/dividend investors don't freak out easily,)

A brilliant man who wants to use his brain. Nothing wrong with this.

Working 4 months out of year not really full time job, most of use that looked forward to retirement work 50 hours plus week and most weekends. So, consider yourself lucky to have less than part time job. :eclipsee_gold_cup:

Since you hate the retired lifestyle and only work 4 months a year, what do you do the other 8 months?
