Autocorrect

Why doesn't autocorrect work when I reply or add to a subject?

I find that spellcheck works by underlining the word in red. Then I right-click and the correct spelling comes up and I can click on it to correct the word.

It's not as "good" as autocorrect, but I'd rather not have autocorrect, as it sometimes chooses a word I didn't mean.
