Golf Cart Tires
 

My Yamaha golf tires are 10+years old; The tread wear is still OK but I am concerned that they should be replaced because of age. Anyone have ay expertise regarding possible age replacement, and if so who is recommended to replace tires at a home?

As I recall 10 years is over the limit for automotive tires, typically due to dry rot, in would think golf cart tires would be similar. You could try contacting the manufacturer or their website to see if they have recommendations for tire replacement.

Still got the original tires on the 2014 Yamaha (the cart has 1,150 registered on the hour meter). The tread is still about 50% with no signs of cracking or dry rot, so I plan on keeping them running until I see something concerning.

Mine start dry rotting after about 5 years (cheap 205s by 10s), they also start losing air. The only time I worn the tread was when I had back problem and reduce air in back tires to ease jolt over bumps, only took 3 years to wear tires out.

Same here on our 2014. It has a lot of garage time with only 350 hours on it. Won't need tires on it for a long time as they look great in all aspects.

I would say that you got your money's worth of use of your tires. While the tire tread may look great, the effect of age will gradually affect the tire material. Rot , cracks , hardness, brittlenss etc. For safety, and confidence of reliability, it would likely make sense to dig out the wallet and splurge on a new set of tires, unless you plan on upgrading to a newer vehicle.

Has anyone used The Tire Guy for steel belted radials? I’m thinking about putting those on the Quiet Tech and putting the relatively new tires currently on the QT on the older 2014 Yamaha?

easy to change IF they are steel rims, steel rims has thin bead that makes it easier. If they are alloy rims they have thicker bead and makes them very hard to get off and on. Walmart quite doing GC tires years ago due to difficultly getting tires on alloy rims without scratching or breaking them. Probably has do with experience and turnovers employees?

From a safety prospective, time to change.

If you like going to Vegas, take the gamble and wait until something happens.

In the scheme of things, small investment for safety and fewer headaches.

More than 7 years old should be replaced. All depends on if you feel your safety is worth $70 per tire

In Florida due to high heat, 6 years is about the limit.
VGC wanted $155 per tire.
Willie's 352.255.1369 would come to my house for $138 per tire.
I ordered a set of Ocelots from Amazon for $65 per tire and had them put on at Tire Choice for $10 each, for a total of $75 per tire.
