Hawks Bay executive course should be reclosed for completion of refurbishing
Played Hawks Bay executive golf course today that reopened only days ago after refurbishing.
We were disappointed to find greens with big bare patches. There were many large 20x40 or larger areas that had been sodded and all the sod is completely dead and 100% brown. This seems like a big waste of Villigers money. It seems like someone put the sod down and didn't water it correctly. Some of the fairways had deep vehicle tire tracks. I can understand the courses will get out of shape and need to be refurbished but who is responsible for the refurbishment of this course? Who is responsible to inspect the course and clear it to be opened? It is a disgrace. It needs to be reclosed and refurbished again |
It just seems to me their idea of refurbishing consist of dropping large rocks everywhere, replacing the bunker sand, and sodding bald patches which some apparently never got the water they need and not doing anything with the tee boxes or greens.

Must be a difference between refurbishing and renovation. Look what they are doing to Bogart and Bacall - digging out the greens, rebuilding with layers of sand and gravel, and re-sodding tee boxes and apron areas. The "patch up" refurbishing jobs they have done to Palmetto, Roosevelt, etc just don't hold up for long.

Hawks Bay and Saddlebrooke had renovation of tee’s and greens within the last 5 years. Golf maintenance has not been able to keep the course up to minimum standards.
