Outdoor Hanging Pendant?

Greetings.....new to Waters Edge/Eastport area......
Looking to replace the can light in the covered entry area provided by the builder with a hanging pendant type. I know the area is rated as having "extremely high winds", and so was wondering if anyone has had any bad luck with those lights/bulbs with a hanging fixture going out consistently from the "swinging", etc? I am wondering if a flush mount makes more sense....

Thank you

Our hanging chain type light at the entry came with the house. It has survived so far. You will be fine and I am sure if you ride around your neighborhood your other neighbors have them to?

Hi there! Most homes that have this type of fixture have held up well during storms in recent years. If you decide to change the hanging fixture to a similar style flush mount light, we would love to help you find some options for replacement. The electrical box is prepared to change to the flush style fixture instead.
You are welcome to email me if you have interest to look at different styles.

Otherwise, we are here for you at Pike's Electric for any other electrical needs

Our hanging light is original from 2013 and has survived a few hurricanes, if you are really concerned, you can stabilize the lamp with some clear fishing line and 2 to 4 hook eyes into the walls, but I do not think this is necessary.

I also wanted to replace my builder installed with a pendant type fixture. However, everyone I saw had an open bottom and that would be a perfect home for bugs, especially hornets. I bought a flush mount for that reason.

The open bottom solves a lot of problems. The moisture ventilation is the primary issue resolved.

You should get ARC approval before spending the money as it might not be allowed in your district (CDD), or your type of home. Better to be safe than sorry.
