About ten years ago, I remember hearing that Tyler’s grandson was still alive.

I thought it was a typo. It was not.

John Tyler was born on March 29, 1790. (This was less than a year after Washington was inaugurated. )

He was in office from 1841 to 1845, and he died on January 18, 1862 during the civil war.

Tyler fathered more children than any other American president. He had 8 children with his first wife and 7 with his second wife.

One of the children from Tyler’s second marriage was Lyon Tyler who was born in 1853. Lyon remarried after his first wife died in 1921 and one of his children was Harrison Tyler who was born on November 9, 1928.

One of President Tyler’s other grandsons was wounded during Pickett’s charge.

President John Tyler had Harrison's father Lyon when he was 63 years old.
Lyon was 75 years old when he had Harrison.
Harrison died 25 May 2025 at 96 years old.

That's incredible!

I had a worker here a few weeks ago and she told me her father had been a Merchant Marine in WWII who had tried to blow up his ship after being boarded by Nazi submariners. She said he was kept in a marked for death area of the POW camp. The Allied army liberated the POW camp in 1945.

I was trying to work out the math with this story. This is 2025. The worker did not look over 50. She may have been born before 1975.

She told me this story after I mentioned a worker from the week before had said that her father was on a German submarine and had been prisoner of the US after being captured. And then had become a US citizen. This worker was probably around 65-75.
