Microchip
 

It is important that all pets be microchiped. If I found a dog or cat wandering around I would take it to a vet's office to check for a microchip. If your pet has a microchip and you moved recently be sure to contact the registry and change your address and telephone number. :thumbup:

Now that I think about it, can birds be microchiped?

Such excellent advice! I have friends that show dogs (three of which have owned best of breeds at Westminster, so they're serious breeders and showers). Every one of their dogs have microchips AND tatoos!

My dog got his microchip when he was six months old, and I've always joked about getting him a tatoo that says "see microchip!" Alas, at three pounds, there's just not enough room.

BTW, my dog is now almost 13. The last time we were at the vet, I asked them to verify that his chip was still readable. One quick scan, and they had the info they would need to return my dog if he were lost. It also turned out to be a great idea to ask them to do the scan, because they now have his chip ID on file!

No, birds would need to be...........(wait for it)............"microchirped"!

Microchip is great advice!

I talked to a man this week at the Dog Park who gave me a new idea. He puts two things on a tag on his dog's collar:
1. His Telephone Number
2. $500 Reward
I betcha he gets called if his dog gets lost!
