Toasted Yolk Breakfast Special Update

We don’t normally eat breakfast out, and when we do it’s usually been Revile Cafe in Magnolia Plaza. This morning we tried Toasted Yolk in Deaton Plaza for a change. We were pleasantly surprised by their morning special from 7-9 am M-F. two scrambled eggs, 2 thick bacon strips and a fresh baked biscuit for $6.99. Their coffee was also very good.

Thx! Appreciate the info!

A good, reasonably priced, breakfast place has been something we've been looking for, but really haven't found. Even before the price of eggs skyrocketed the restaurants here, in our opinion, have served marginal breakfasts at high prices. (Like why do restaurants here believe a diced ham & cheese omelet can be made with lunch meat ham? Really?). Again, thx for the info. Will give it a try!

I wish I’d known of the special. I was also there this morning between 7-9AM.

I’m watching carbs and sugar, so I just ordered a side of two eggs, a side of bacon and black coffee - total bill $14.50 before tip - I shoulda ordered the special and ditched the biscuit.

Toasted Yolk has wonderful freshly made doughnuts. There are 4 on the menu, but they also do a half order......

Any southerner will tell you Aunt Ida made better grits than Aunt Hazel. As a northern i couldn’t tell a good grit from bad until I married into southern roots.

Both are chain restaurants, grits made in the same fashion, depending on who’s throwing in the cheese. Rarely order grits because I prefer course stone ground.

I would put Flying Biscuit grits higher on my list than Reveille or Toasted. Grits are a personal preference most restaurants rarely do justice. My spouse or son spends an entire day cooking grits to perfection. Each using a different generation family recipe, both equally good, yet very different. 24 handwritten recipes dating back to 1800’s
