Anybody watching soccer?

I happened to tune in on a soccer game between the USA and Haiti. I’m sorry to say, the US players looked pathetic, whoever got the ball couldn’t wait to get rid of it, always backwards, often all the way back to their goalie. The score was 1-1 when I started watching, and when I stopped in disgust.

Watching grass grow is more interesting.

Add more offense and i would be more likely to watch.

Occasionally I watch it. Do enjoy the penalty shootouts.

LOL! the team under Berhalter made trying to score look very hard, look almost impossible
This team strategy is much more attacking than the prior losing by never scoring strategy.

There are several basic strategies in soccer when possessing the ball
sustained attacking, quick counter attacking, resting keep away, and time wasting keep away. .

Dribbling a ball from one end to the other by a single person is nearly impossible due to the distance, and number of players. . And since the ball can travel faster than a human can run, not possessing by dribbling or holding the ball is more advantageous to possessing the ball so that the other team can't attack.

and yes its a low scoring game, so the skill is team work and individual skills to keep control of the ball.

I used to referee soccer back in the day. Watching it on TV is okay but it does put me to sleep, kind of like watching golf on TV.

Just like watching golf, soccer is a sport that you have had to play to appreciate. Personally, I’m more of a lacrosse guy, but there are many similarities between the two sports.

I’d rather watch paint dry than watch soccer.

I would rather play than watch any day. .

fans love high scoring games,
football for the ADD, play for 6-10 seconds, then wait another 40 seconds.
baseball has the exciting home run. . though pitching duels are boring as well
basketball being in a small area and easy to score, has a high score
hockey is very fast, few time outs like soccer, but low scoring,

there's a sport for everything. .
how many watch sailing? and the Americas Cup?
that sport has died, and I raced everyday in college, and the US used to get many olympic medals, now none.

progress right?

No. From small town in fly over state no soccer or ice hockey. Never sparked interest.

I love the beautiful game from watching to playing though it’s been 14yrs since last played.
I’m a Liverpool fan and enjoy English Premier League games on Sat/Sun mornings. Wish there were places to gather and watch matches in TV. My guess is fans watch in their homes.

Current update US involved tournaments:

Not my sport. There needs to be more offense IMHO. Another sport and I might be sleeping on the couch or going to divorce court.

I watched hour and hours of soccer. I almost saw a goal once.
