Villages ER vs 466A ER

I know the ratings have improved and this was a one time deal. Woke up around 1am with a sharp pain in groin area. Went to Villages ER and was seen promptly. Dr. Examined area in pain and said didn’t see a problem. I said what about pain and said it would subside after taking some ibuprofen. Got home and pain worse so go to 466a er just couple miles from my house. Only person there and after telling nurse my issue she immediately put an iv of pain killer and anti nausea drug. Dr came in immediately without even examining me we’re doing some scans of the area. Immediately had the scan after fifteen minutes came in and said you javelin a kidney stone, the size being maybe might pass on its own or have it removed. Forgot to mention when nurse gave me that I’ve, 10 minutes later the paid subsided.:bigbow::bigbow::bigbow:

Nothing like being dismissed for medical care when pain is so acute. Happy to hear you landed on the right side of good treatment in the end.:ohdear:

I would make a phone call to the original ER and tell them that they found a kidney stone. It may make the doctor look a bit harder next time.

I can’t resist, I wonder how they are going to code it?

Based on my experience at the ER on El Camino Real, I have three thoughts. First, I am very surprised someone saw you promptly, it took them almost 13 hours to completely misdiagnose me and send me home in critical condition. Second, as I’m sure you can figure out from my first thought, I am not surprised at all that they sent you home in pain without a proper diagnosis. Third, responding to the title to the thread “Villages ER vs 466A ER”, I would reword it to say “Villages ER vs Any other ER Between The Keys and Northern Maine”!

So CT scan showed a stone, and ER guy says it might pass on its own, or have it removed?

Was it suggested to drink plenty of water? Did he recommend a urologist, so we can send the CT scan for further review? Little surprised he used “remove it” because if that was the case your consultation should have already be in the works. Or at least a consultation with a urologist, in case a Lithotripsy (minor procedure to breakdown the stone), might be needed. Stones are very common ED visits, both departments should be well versed especially late at night.

Hopefully this stone will be a one and done. Or you may end up being a repeater, which is more common than you realize.

Sorry for me both ED’s were a swing and a miss.

I am not ready to dismiss the second ER before reading the ER admission and release notes/information. We don't know how completely the OP presented the case before he was released from the 466A ER Dep

Remarks

I must apologize, the doctor did give all the details you mentioned. Drink plenty of water, gave me a recommendation of 3 urologist, and didn’t use the word remove. I used all the words you used.. I was amazed my primary care dr. Called me at 9pm tonight and ask me how I was doing and to make sure I make an appointment with urologist.

HCA Florida Trailwinds Village Emergency HCA Florida Trailwinds Village Emergency

My Mom was treated quickly after the 911 responders suggested they take her there. This was in 2021.

They did a good job. The medical staff there.

Watch the first step

Long story short. Couldn't breathe, went to uf health leesburg hospital and 5 days later walked out after pulmonary embolisms removed from lungs. Be very careful of your choice between local er's and hospitals

Brownwood ER was great. Transported to lady lake hospital long story short surgery the next day doctor only removed 40% of my kidney stone and released me. Had to find another doctor and another surgeon. Horrible care called and complained and all they said was what do you want us to do. From now on it’s advent health for any issue. They completed the work that should have been completed. The first time will never recommend or go back to either Leesburg or Lady Lake Hospital.

Villager er
