Experience the British Open
First - sit in a flight simulator for 7 hours.
Second - Check into a Motel 6 Third - stop and eat at McDonalds Fourth- play a round of golf where they turn the irrigation system on every 1/2 hour for 15 minutes Fifth- finish the round and do 2,3,4 all over again for 3 more rounds. Sixth- get back in the flight simulator for 7 hours Seventh- get back home and tell all your friends what a great time you had....priceless! |
Maybe, but that is not the way to do it in Ireland. .
First - go for a week - 10 days Second - rent a car and wear a diaper for single lane roads with bi directional traffic and rock walls disguised with vines on roads a car and 1/2 wide. Watch out for the afternoon cow drive at the local milk farm. Third - play highly rated off the beaten path courses, maybe a local tournament or fund raiser Fourth - see some castles and tourist spots every other day . . though the castles are all just rock piles at this point Fifth - dine out with the locals you have golfed with Sixth - just start with 18 sleeves of balls each course, wearing long underwear and water proofs, and the stories you can tell - priceless! |
Links golf and weather always sorts the men from the boys.

The British Open at Royal Portrush is a sensational event. I was there for the 2019 tournament.
Same exact weather, 6 years ago today. Bright sunshine and near 70 degrees ... following by 25 mph winds, pouring rain & 45 degrees .... then back to sunshine. The real "can't miss" event, will be in September 2027, when the Ryder Cup is at Adare Manor in the Republic of Ireland. |
