courtyard

We noticed that lots of the courtyards have more cement than grass. My question is how are dogs doing with such little grass? Our dogs are used to going out on the deck or going out on a runner in the grass. We love our cavachons. The courtyards keep calling our names. Also some courtyards appear smaller. What courtyard villa has a larger courtyard?

Does anyone have the underground shocker type fences? do they really keep the dogs safe in TV. Never used them.

The courtyard villas which have the most yard space are those on corner lots. You will find a bunch of them out there and they are a terrific compromise between fenced-in privacy and spaciousness. Some folks have converted their yards to 100% inanimate surfaces to cut down on maintenance, but I believe those places are still in the minority. The villa fences and walls make an invisible fence for pets unnecessary.

I'm with you. IMO courtyard villas are an absolutely ideal combination of privacy, space, and containment for pets.

Good question. We were convinced we wanted a CYV since we have Merlin. We just recently stayed in a Cabana at Creeksdie Landing just to see if we liked them or not. Well, no grass meant we had to walk Merlin all over before he would get his business done(and yes we pick up after him). He hated the pine straw that covered areas that weren't concrete. Wouldn't think of doing anything there, lol. Also hubby didn't like looking at the walls. So now we are thinking more on purchasing a house. Who knows where we will end up, house vs CYV.

We have a CYV and have a small area cordoned off where the dogs relieve themselves. They hated the bark chip mulch that was there, so we replaced it with pine straw and they are happy with the pine straw. You will find that after a couple of days, your dogs will get used to pine straw and you won't have any problems.

Also, a walk every day will help your dogs relieve themselves. All dogs need to walk to get their internal systems working properly. But, rather than taking a walk through your neighborhood, take them to a public area, and pick up after them. Some people don't like dogs urinating or defecating on the portion of their grass next to the street, even when you pick up after them.

A CYV is the best solution if you have dogs. Not only for containing them on your property, but the walls also help with dogs that like to bark at intruders.
