Simply Sprinklers

I highly recommend Simply Sprinklers (Brent Mauriell) 352-250-2573.
Had one zone that would not shut off. After hours Brent talked me through where to find the main shut off for the irrigation on the phone. He worked me into his schedule and came over the next morning to replace a shutoff valve, He also checked my entire system and adjusted all heads. Very professional, friendly, fast and extremely fair charges. Give him a call if you need tuneup or repairs.

How much did all that cost?

Yes, what may be an "extremely fair charge" to one person may not be the same to another person.

Exactly, so I do my own sprinkler work but my neighbors tell me almost all these companies do a great job and are reliable and reputable but they are getting like HVAC companies, charging a trip fee, diagnostic fee and then whatever repair you need. One company charges $90 just to come out before any repairs. I can understand this because these guys have trucks, insurance and other overhead. They are not some "Chuck in a truck" repair person any more and the few of those that are still out there are far and few between.

We have used Brent/Simply Sprinklers a number of times for regular maintenance and repairs. We also highly recommend him.

Night before he quoted $150 to replace/repair control valve. What did he charge for two guys and a truck the very next morning to repair and check other valves, $150.
Could I have done it for less myself? Yes I could since I also do my own maintenance/repair work. But I didn’t have the parts and would have to order or go to store and wouldn’t have time to do work until the weekend. So was his charge for fast service and time savings fair and worth it…. Yes!

I endorse Brent Mauriell, also. Have had him since he was just starting out!

In your situation, you did the right thing. They never replace the valve body which unless it's cracked because that's a big job to cut the PVC and install a new one so they just replace the internal parts which can be anywhere from $6 for the Diaphragm to $11 for the selenoid. Lowes has these parts. But the guy is in business so he needs to make money which is fine so next time your HVAC guy comes and charges you $100-$200 to change your $60 capacitor, no complaining.

Definitely won’t complain. Have two spare capacitors, at quite a bit less than $60 by the way. That’s about a 15 min job. Already replaced it once. Also have spare igniters for the on demand water heater. Now I will be stocking parts to rebuild a valve. With a career in construction, I’ll never complain about a fair price for a fair job. Brent charges a fair price for great service.

Sadly, I cannot endorse him.

I asked him to fix a leak in a sprinkler pipe but he said it wasn't worth his while unless I also paid for a full assessment of the system. I agreed to this and his "assessment" was very cursory (no recommendations even though I know several of the sprinkler heads were not "at their best") and he said there was no leak. After he'd gone I turned the irrigation back on and immediately the dip in the ground where I said there was a leak filled with water. I phoned him and he said he wouldn't come back as fixing leaks was not his thing. So why did he agree to come for exactly that in the first place? A waste of time and money.

The leak was fixed by Devon Walker, who I highly recommend.
