Leaking pipe identity help
 

I discovered a wet area in my side yard. Started digging and found two side byside pink pipes about 3/4 inch dripping water. Can anyone tell me anything about them or who I should call?

Hard to tell from the photos, but if PVC turns "pink", the pipe is seriously degraded.

Unless it is irrigation piping that started out that color.

Any plumber or a good handyman can fix it.

Could that pink be a shade of purple used for reclaimed water irrigation systems? Not sure what other pvc would be running through your yard.

Purple pipes are for irrigation. Quick way to verify is to turn on your irrigation and see if those pipes start leaking.

If they are not irrigation pipes, my only other guess would be the HVAC condensate drain and the water heater overflow drain. The condensate drain would always be draining in the summer, but the water heater overflow drain would be dry most of the time.

PVC Pipe in "Pink" is "furniture grade" pipe and not generally used for irrigation. See attached.

“Purple” appears to be a range.

Turned off the water at irrigation meter, leak stopped. Call placed to several repairmen. Thanks for all replys.

Nope. Pink PVC is used for all irrigation in TV...white is used for potable water.

It's irrigation or drainage, most likely irrigation. If you are using your irrigation system with no problems and it's in a remote location in your yard, then I wouldn't worry about it. But if you haven't used your irrigation and want to, then I'd go with a plumber over a "handyman".

They wouldn't bury a AC drainage pipe

Typically, the AC condensate drain pipe is buried under the concrete garage slab and is routed upward aboveground and drips onto the ground just outside of the garage.

The pink stuff is the thin cheap stuff that TV uses to route mains around the house. if they are cracked, you need to dig a few feet to both sides of the crack. Now the fun part you can't flex them all that much but you'll have to cut them and put in a 'patch pipe' so you'll need 2 couplers per pipe, I used sched 40 pipe as I don't want to do it again. you'll need the glue kit, and make sure you use it. Aside from the digging it's fairly easy and inexpensive to fix. I've fixed all sorts of sprinkler runs for decades. easy peasy. If you need help just send me a message

PINK pipe, is "furniture grade" pipe, and typically used for "decorative" purposes. It is not a standard color for irrigation or anything else.

PVC or Polyethylene both have "color codes" and should only be used for their designated purpose.

Anyone who uses the phrase "in all of The Villages ....", needs to get some more experience in TV. Things change all the time. Construction, materials, restrictions, etc.
