Which city to use on postal Address?

I've noticed my new address is listed many places with both "The Villages" and "Lady Lake" as the city. Can I choose to use either one, or is one preferred over the other?

If you live in the "historic section" you'd use Lady Lake for any official documents, but you can also use The Villages for stuff like signing up for coupons or rewards cards at stores. As I understand it (and I might be wrong on this): if you live in a CDD, you'd use The Villages. If you don't, you'd use Lady Lake. The Historic Area isn't assigned to a CDD, it's just Lady Lake, with some limited oversight by the VCCDD.

LOL. I feel your pain. We moved to Wellpoint in March. Zip code 34762.

Depends on the vendor.
#1 The VIllages- (What we have reluctantly agreed to use as the default--this seems to work with the least amount of hassle)
#2 Middleton-FEDEX
#3 Okahumpka-USPS, AMAZON
#4 Adamsville-junk mail and Pottery Barn
#5 Sumterville-catalogs
#6 Wildwood-utility bills, hospital and Sun Pass.

We use "The Villages" and sometimes the vendor will say "I show it as....." Seems to find us one way or the other..

Not sure about the why's and how's but 34762 seems to come back to one of these.

Key is the zip code, 32159. The actual post office is in Lady Lake.

We have a house in the 32159 and The Villages always works for us.

It works for mailing things, but I believe your drivers license will show Lady Lake. As will the deed to your house, your car registration - as I said - legal documents.

We always use The Villages, 32159 and have never had an issue. Interestingly, although Lady Lake is in Lake County, our home is in Sumter County but our zip code is 32159?

32159 has area in both counties. There are a couple of sites that provide zip code maps.

What did your closing documents use is your first safe bet?

The city of Lady Lake exists in both counties.

Not according to google maps or the city of Lady Lake official website. Do you have a source that indicates something different?

Your closing documents mean nothing. Closing documents identify a property by a Deed Reference, Plan Reference and usually a Plat or Map & Parcel number.

If you order something on line, almost every shipper will have 3rd Party Verification for your address. You’ll get an option to use whatever address you typed or select the one they suggest. 99.9% of the time, choose the one they suggest.

If you know your Zip Code, just type it into a Google Search, and it will tell you what “towns” it represents. If you get more than 1 answer, either of the results will work for the USPS … other shippers could be different.

In The Villages, “The Villages” usually works, but newer and much older sections can be different..

City: LADY LAKE, FL | Florida United States ZIP Code 5 Plus 4 ✉️

Look around halfway down the page.

Hickory Head Hammock, which was the original Morse Compound in the Villages next to Spanish Springs Town Square, is in Sumter County, in the city of Lady Lake. There are several homes there, usually you'll see one for sale every couple of years.

No little red button to open the gate entering Hickory Head Hammock. After looking at the interesting area many times while golfing at Hacienda Hills, I decided to give it a drive through in the golf cart and check it out, but couldn’t open the gate.

I’m in one of the newer areas near Eastport. My drivers license is The Villages, and that seems to work with every vendor I’ve used so far.
