Security at the airport is insane until you get to the baggage claim, then it’s like take whatever bag you want.

Only once in my life, years ago, in Atlanta Airport, there were people who matched your check-in luggage paper-receipts to the luggage you carry out.

As you can imagine, half of the people could not find the receipts and there was a lllooonnggg line just to leave the baggage claim area. Not to mention that, easily, a scammer can take his junkie luggage tag and put it on your fancy luggage to carry it out.

You have a very good point!!! I am surprised that none of my luggage was ever stolen yet, especially in sketchy airports outside the USA.

The only solution I can think of is self-service of people scanning the luggage tags they took out AND their boarding pass in order to leave.

Buy an Apple AirTag and put it in your luggage. If you don't have an iPhone, there are Andriod equivalents. Also, put something bright on your luggage such as a colorful strap.
