UFO encounters?

Yesterday during golf round, talked to one of our neighbors, who has logged over 1000 combat hours as a fighter pilot and he shared this experience:

While on a mission in southeast Asia was in contact with huge UFO almost the size of a football field somewhat "barrel" shaped, turned plane toward object to get a better look, came within 300 feet and the object in an instant shot off and was out of sight within seconds, no noise, no vapor trail, just GONE....This was reported to military investigators....

Too many encounters with commercial and military pilots to dismiss this phenomenon....Are we alone? Any other experiences in the Villages you would like to share....

With a bilion stars out there, we are not alone. There was an article in a NY paper today about a retired General who INSISTS the governments throughout the world know of UFO.

Why they don't announce it, I don't know. My hunch is more than 50% of people suspect there is life elsewhere. These aliens might not be little green things with antenas. Whoever they are, their intellegence is more advanced then humans.

l2ridehd 02-24-2011 06:32 AM

UFO's, maybe. I once heard a speaker who gave statistics something like this. Don't recall the exact way he laid them out but this is close. Same final conclusion with 100,000 planets with life in our galaxy.

The stars we see at night are very much like our sun. If we assume that one in every 100,000 stars was a sun like ours and able to have planets revolving around it like ours does, and that of those stars with planets, one in every 100,000 had some form of life. And one in every 100,000 of those the life was evolved into some intelligent form. In just the milky way galaxy, there would be 100,000 planets with intelligent life of which earth is just one. And there are 7 known galaxies. This was many years ago and I think now there are 8 galaxies.

So statistically it is impossible for there not to be other life just in our own galaxy. Could they be evolved a few hundred or thousand years beyond us? Have they solve the space time travel issue? Maybe.

jebartle 02-24-2011 07:25 AM

IowaParrker...

confused by your response....Not only did our neighbor witness the UFO but his co-pilot and two other officers reported this observation....Just wondering if anyone has friends with similar encounters....I know there is a lot of military in the Villages that might be able to add to this thread either personally or reported to them.......

They still cant figure out how they built the Pyramids with those huge blocks of stone, did they have help?

BlueHeronFan 02-24-2011 08:32 AM

I am always open to the possibility, and actually believe there there is more evidence everyday. Anyone who has a problem coming to grips with it, may I suggest watching a few of the shows available on the History Channel, that can really open up ones mind.

Bogie Shooter 02-24-2011 09:01 AM

I saw one going north on Buena Vista just last week. Was about 2 feet off the ground.....gone in an instant.

JenAjd 02-24-2011 09:27 AM

My thoughts on this....not sure what these people have seen. BUT just consider this..."IF" there is "LIFE" out there why haven't MORE people here seen them and had experiences that can be truthfully documented. These encounters are always quick and ambiguous and a handful of people have experienced it. I for one would LOVE for a whole large community to have the exact same experience to be a believer!! The rest makes for some good stories and speculation.

DaleMN 02-24-2011 10:16 AM

Sure....and Billy Pilgrim got lost in time.

DaleMN 02-24-2011 10:17 AM

Oops...I think I meant stuck in time.

All I can think of is "To Serve Man".... :22yikes:

Joking aside, I do believe I have seen something that was unexplained. I was young and remember seeing this object, not too high in the sky. It was evening and quite dark. I was looking out of a window of our house and there it was, not making any noise. I could see windows in this "thing." The street light illuminated whatever this was, no glowing lights that I remember. Have no idea what it was.

I remember that. A cook book. Great episode. Not sure if it were a Twilight Zone or Otta Limits of a freelance flick. It was great.

Tom Hannon 02-24-2011 11:34 AM

Okay- I confess. My planet sent me here a year ago to study the habits of Earthlings. I somehow ended up on TOTV. I keep reporting to my superiors back home how strange this civilization is. Everyone is so happy. At least when they are not involved in a political debat. I see no reason to send down our fleet to destroy these what you call HUMANS. My other soldiers have reported how destructive and hateful they are throughout the world but I don't see it in this community. If we decide to destroy this planet, I will suggest they spare the Village People. There is hope for them.

I should have posted this under comedy

you are all a hoot!!!!! Soooo the concensus is "NO such thing as UFO's", come on guys, if you think that we are the only ones with litterly billions of possibilities in the universe, than I say shame on you for being so egotistical....And in response to those that want a community to document sightings, this has happened....As was posted in this thread, just check out the history channel.....Besides, first post originated from someone who certainly has credibility as an officer in the military and his crew! Let's not forget about Roswell, NM.....How did 4 alien bodies transform into a WEATHER BALLOON? Yea Right!

I don't really think the consensus is no such thing. I do believe there is SOMETHING out there and some have seen it/them/whatever the heck it could be. There are also some who tell of alien abductions when they aren't really experiencing them....they state they can't move...and technically, they can't. They're experiencing hynagogia. Does this lucid dreaming, sleep paralysis state explain all events? Personally, I don't believe it does, but the only experience I've had is seeing that object in the night sky. I've watched videos of radar screens, videos taken on planes, from space and something seems apparent. One of these days, we'll be either fortunate or unfortunate to find out....I'm hoping for the former!

Sorry, didn't mean to get technical. I believe, I do.... ;)

People who have seen UFO's are afraid they'll be made fun of, and that's why there are not many reports. Although I'd love to see something, I've never been that lucky.

However, my uncle worked on space center projects most of his life, and he told us that he saw classified photos of aliens. When he told us, he had long-since retired and was of very sound mind, and I believe him. He said that the reports showed that one alien had lived for a short time after being captured, but the others were found dead.

We are such a small speck in our own universe, and there are more universes out there, so how can we be alone? It's logical that there are other planets with life. God is able to create life in other places in addition to our own little planet Earth.

There is so much we don't know.

Hi K-9

That is truly amazing that this was your UNCLE....Wow!....My husband was sooooo "blown-away", he said he would have given up his new driver to talk to your uncle....That toooo is amazing because he loves that driver...giggle..

In 1974 while returning home from looking for furniture with my first wife to be I saw what loked like a plane on aproach to Ohare Airport. The odd part was it had lights that looked strange I told my wife to look and she said just a plane.I continued driving on that road til we were under it.It wasn't moving so I got out of the car and looked at it about 700 ft above it look like a flying wing and didn"t move,It had a slight turbine sound to it and the cockpit lights were a strange green .At this point my wife is screaming for me to get back in the car but I wanted to figure out what it was,I couldn't beleive cars were going by and not stopping to look.It started to drift away where i couldn't see because of trees so I jumped back in and drove to a bridge less then a min. away.I got of the car and looked all around and their was nothing in the sky and it was a very clear sky.Upon getting to my inlaws we were both shaking and nervous,I phoned police and they laughed at first then about 15 mins. later they phoned back and said they had other calls.I was told I would be called back by ufo research center, they sent me pages of questions to fill out which We did but to this day don't know what it was. But one thing I do know it wasn't a light in the distance this was real and close enough to see very well,to this day more then anything I would like to know what it was and yes I do not tell this story because people do laugh.I ask my daughter if she has ever asked her mother about this and are told she will not talk about. What amazes me is that I had the guts to get out of the car and stand under it.

Do you have any recollection about the color of the "wing?"

Personally if I had been an adult and saw what you saw, I'd have to go home and change my clothes... ;)

My thoughts have always been that on this planet on a scale of 1 to 10 of intelligence we are 10. As an example, you can be writing a letter and while your dog is watching you, try to explain to him what you are doing and he will never in a million years comprehend what you are telling him as he doesn't have the brain power to comprehend.
Now in our universe, or in all of space, our intelligence which leads our planet as a 10. may only be a .001 compared to intelligence of the rest of the universe , or total space. That's why we can't explain things and can only guess or put a spiritual explanation on things that we don't have an answer to. We simply can't comprehend because of our limited intelligence. It could be that other civilizations that may be an 8 or 10, know this and haven't tried to contact us as it would be a waste of time. Whether we like it or not that may just be what it is. It's hard to accept that we are not king of the hill as on this planet and relegated to next to nothing on the total scale.

UFO's

In August 1969 around 3:00PM I was driving on a curvy hilly road that connected two state highways. Looked up saw a strange metallic object pulled to the left side of the highway and in that time this massive metallic object was close to the ground blocking out the horizon. i did not see any lights or windows nor did i hear the sounds of an engine. It was like looking under a steel bowl when looking up. I was in awe. I stood there for what seem liked a minute or so then rembered I had a camera in my car.
with the window down reached in grabbed the camera and aimed it at the UFO. In an instant and what I describe as a backward Z pattern the UFO disappeared. It took me five years just to tell my spouse because I knew she like many other people would never believe me.

jebartle 02-24-2011 05:49 PM

I assume you didn't get the picture...

Wow!.....Thank you so much for sharing your story....We are both amazed at the stores told on this thread......Keep them coming....Thank you again!

I grew up believing in "flying saucers", my father was a police officer in a small town, working the night shift when he got a call from a panicky lady that something was shining a bright light in her back field. My father drove out to investigate and saw a large "spot light" coming from beneath the outline of a saucer shaped object and it was shining the light around the field ......he drove into the lady's yard as he drove past the house towards the field in back ...the object lifted up into the sky and quickly disappeared. ...this was late '40s (1948-1949)....the object was not a helicopter, it made no sound.

My Story, 1972 St Augustine, Fl...I lived on Sailboat and a friend and I were sitting in the cockpit facing the east looking over the ocean chatting.....My friend says out of the blue "did you see what I just saw"....I asked "What did you see"......What we both saw, was sitting high in the eastern sky 12 o'clock position was a very bright light (star, we thought)...this was at dusk and from out of the south came a pinpoint light very fast at about the 4 o'clock position then went up and (into) the brighter light.....within seconds both went straight up out of sight.....We both decided there was no aircraft we knew of that could do this.

Russ_Boston 02-24-2011 06:50 PM

300 feet? Do you know how close that is in the air?

not saying he didn't see what he thinks he saw but would you get within 300 feet of a football field size object in space? Not likely.

jchase 02-24-2011 06:52 PM

We all seen alot of strange stuff in 1969!

UFO Part II

Jebartle The sight of the camera is what caused this UFO to disappear faster then it took me to aim that camera. Again moving from left motion to right then upward then right to left completing the top of a Z and it was gone. I tried over the years to believe that perhaps it was a government secret project but to this day the military has not come close to displaying this sort of technology. By the way it was in the shape of a saucer. Again from where I was standing it was like looking underneath a stainless steel kitchen bowl.

I suspect there are many people who claim sightings and are lying or mistaken. However there are so many credible people like the pilot cited earlier in this thread.

Yet this was a broad daylight August day on a Friday afternoon with not a cloud in the sky. So I had a clear view of what was in front of me. Again the speed with which it left is unimagineable. If we could go back in time that is one time I would choose for myself. It had a profound and lasting effect on my life.

First of all let me say that I do believe that there is life out there in the universe. And they are probably completely different than us. I do believe that people posting have seen these phenomena.

And I have a question: We keep sending probes to these different planets to see if there is water. For some reason our scientists believe that water equals life. Why do these scientists think that any other life form in the universe or other galaxy is like us and needs water to exist?

Just curious.

Actually, they're looking for LIQUID water, not ice or vapor. I've provided a link to "Life's Little Essential" from NOVA. It's interesting reading. Check out the link for a good explaination about why water is necessary for life.

If you go to the Nova Mars Dead or Alive at the bottom of this article and go to Ask The Expert, there is this Q&A:

Q: Is it possible that the things necessary to sustain life are different on other planets than they are on Earth?
Westview 8th Grade, Denver, Colorado

A: It may be possible, but life as we know it needs relatively moderate temperatures and water to live. So, places with those conditions are the first place to look. We know that, at a minimum, life needs an energy source of some sort.

So the conjecture is "life as we know it". I guess I will have to go with that.

Thanks for the links.

Z
