What time do you eat dinner?
What time would you reccomend when going to the more popular places for dinner? At 5:30 will we find long lines or long waiting times? We understand this is the busy time of year and in 2 days we will be adding to the crowd.
Thanks for your help to us newbies |
We hate lines, but find we usually can get in at Thai Ruby in Sumter Landing. Sunday unexpected friends arrived at noon and the 6 of us went to Thai Ruby for a great meal at reasonable prices and no wait.

we avoid the villages completely from November-April... When we have to be down there for some reason in that season... I aviod 5:30-7:30 for dining, especially at the nicer restaurants.

When the Brownwood complex is completed (another year and a half) it should help with the crowds. I haven't been in TV since November so I have yet to see the crowds my friends have been complaining about. As I do in NY, when eateries are crowded on Friday nights I try to get out between 4- 4:30. Not sure how it is in TV at that time. You can always start up the BBQ during the busy season.

How about the fact that by then, tv will have closed on another 3,600 +/- homes?

I laughed a couple of years ago when someone, maybe our dear Muncle said
"Don't Snowbirds ever cook???" |
I love it here, during snowbird season! I love all the hustle and bustle and even the crowds; especially at the squares.
As for restaurants, yes, they are busy between 5:30 & 7:30 most nights. However, I find it a great time to checkin with the hostess and head to the bar. I have met some really nice people, while waiting for a table. For one, I'm gonna miss the snowbirds, when they head north! :o |
eating time
Arrive at 4:30 or 6:30. First seating by 5 second seating around 6:30

We usually do lunch instead of dinner. We eat between 1 and 2 and never have to wait. I think Seinfeld called it lupper.

No Lines For Us!

I'd say if you make it to most places by 5 p.m.-ish, you'll be fine. Any lines should be minimal.
