Villages population during the summer

Just curious about what the approximate population of the Villages is during the summer......read variously that it is 70,000 to 80,000 during the winter months......

The roads are less crowded and the restaurant waiting lines are shorter. The stores are less crowded.

Hope that helps.

I would just guess the offseason population is about 65,000 to 70,000. You do notice it on the executive golf courses, restaurants, and the movie theaters.

You also notice a marked improvement of driving skills around the traffic circles during the offseason times.

Tbugs and skip have it down to a science, especially the driving skills........

You can walk on to any of the executive courses in the afternoons and evenings. On the championship courses it's all you can play for $6 after 5pm. And if you think there is a good sale on at Van Heusen and Izod right now . . .wait until spring. Most restaurants lower their prices and there are no lines - at Palmer last year you could get a three course dinner for two with a bottle of wine for $50!!!

population

I suspect with more Lifstyle people and renters along with new buyers that the summer population will continue to remain well over 80,000 all summer. There were definitely more people here last summer than the year before.

Somewhere I've heard the estimate that 30% of the population are "snowbirds."

If we accept 80,000 as a reasonable estimate of current population, that means that some 24,000 aren't here in the summer. But it also means that some 56,000 are!

My gut says that there are closer to 60,000 here all summer. That said, those who noted easier tee times, lesser restaurant waits, less traffic in summer are right!

Earlier this afternoon I encountered a really, really long back-up headed east out the Sunset Pointe gate on Bailey Trail. Quick guesstimate: 25 vehicles, including cars and carts. Wow!

Traffic on Bailey Trail has multiplied exponentially in my six years. That's because it is really the main drag for all our new neighbors in Pennecamp, Buttonwood, St. Charles, St. James and Tamarind Grove.

Welcome, guys! Just hope you'll stay off the roads when I'm out and about! :a20:

Just count all the out of state plates that you see and subtract that from 80,000.:loco:

When we moved in 6 years ago I could never figure why there was a blinker light (now a stoplight) on St. Charles and Bailey Trail. Now I know why.
