21st Birthday - What to do?

I will be visiting TV in April and my niece will be coming down to celebrate her 21st birthday. Her 23 year old brother will be joining us as well. Any suggestions on how to celebrate and where these young folks can go for some fun later in the evening?

Go play Mexican Train Dominoes, have an early bird dinner at Toojay''s, have a 7:30 pm nightcap at Cody's, and get home before 9pm bedtime. They have to be ready for another exciting day.

Actually, check out Discovery Kayak Tours. Ryan has kayak tours on some of the springs and rivers about an hour's drive from The Villages that are facinating. Manatee sightings are common.

Book a few days at Sanibel Island down near Fort Myers. Great shelling and beaches as well as wonderful bars and restaurants.

Check into a 3 or 4 day cruise to some of the nearby Caribbean islands. They are fairly inexpensive and a lot of fun.

Go to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Tampa for the day. There are always specials going on there. The 21 year old might win her tuition. Afterward, enjoy dinner at Bahama Breeze on the Tampa-Clearwater causeway.

Thank you...we will check some of these options out!

Here's a vote for Hard Rock. It really is hard to go wrong with having a place to stay that requires no driving on your 21st birthday and what kid wouldn't want to drink and gamble on his/her birthday?

If you plan to stay in TV, ask the servers where they go when they're off work. I know they used to go to Margarita Republic in SS or Applebee's when they got off work. Not sure where the latesst hangouts are. That way, you guys could go out for a nice dinner and the kids could go hit the bars where the servers are and goof around with them.

There's bowling and they may be interested in the various competitive games like bocce, baseball, shuffleboard, as well as the pools.

This place is definitely not beyond a teens' activity interests. If they enjoy horses, there's plenty of ranches around for them to visit and ride, then in Tampa there's the arts theatre with some great live performances as well as the Silver Lake theater and animal farm in Ocala with the glass-bottom boats where one can watch the allegators under water as well as attend many hi-profile performers that go there. Then there's Disney, Sea World, and even the Kennedy Space Center not that far away.

One could never be bored here no matter what the age.

Two two TV late night places where I have most seen young people congregating are Margarita Republic and Packo's at Fiesta Bowl. Also, somewhat at Gator's in LSL, mostly on Wed and Sat. nights (I think those are the nights they have live karaoke and dj dance music - you probably should call and check to see if the schedule for that has changed). Of course, it is going to be a mixed age group at any of those places; but all will be either young or young at heart.

We will be pretty much "staying on campus" during the visit, so the ideas of asking servers where they go is great! Is Hard Rock in TV? I thought Urban Flats, TGIFridays would be good options as well.

You guys are great for posting suggestions for me.

Our grand daughter went sky diving for the first time on her 22nd birthday last Saturday in Deland (about 75 minutes East of TV).

I agree those are good choices. Since it's her 21st birthday, be sure to buy your niece her "first" (wink, wink, nod, nod) drink. They probably would enjoy the dancing and music on the squares after dinner. The squares are open to the public and there are always young adults there.

Asking the servers where the young adults hang out later in the evening was an excellent suggestion.

Other thoughts: They probably would enjoy tooling around some in a golf cart, if you have one available, or on bicycles, if available. If there are any sports activities they enjoy, those sports will be available in TV.

Have a great trip and keep us posted about how you and your visitors enjoyed your stay.

Our daughters are 22 & 24. When they come down they like to go to Katie Belles, Margarita Republic, watch people dancing at the squares, bicycling, the gyms, going to open houses (especially Premiers!), playing Pickleball, riding in the golf carts, shopping....in short they like a lot of the same things we do...no need to leave TV!

I am now more excited than ever to have my niece come to TV! Great suggestions one and all. You are the best!

Saturday at pickleball there were two late 20 YO sisters from Oregon who were here visiting an aunt. They played pickelball for the first time on Friday and on Saturday were better than most on the courts. They didn't appear to be athletes but having good eyesight and fast reactions sure helps playing ball sports.

Where is Marguarita Republic?

ducati1974 03-07-2011 05:23 PM

Margarita Republic is in Spanish Springs right on one corner of the square on Main St.

Thanks. Not being a Villager (yet), I am still finding my way around. We will find this place at SS!
