Is Russ Boston "Big Brother"?

Although Firefox works and doesn't crash on my laptop, it at times does strange things. Example... For the last 2 days, instead of the green light online indicator next to your name, my screen has Russ Boston's avatar. Nothin' personal Russ, but this is a little weird :22yikes:. This doesn't happen on IE. Anybody else having a Russ overload?

Laryb,
Sounds like you're either channeling Russ-- or you hacked into his computer.

Way to go.:highfive:

:police: "Sir, I'll ask you to put the crack pipe down and step away from the highly technical device!!" :1rotfl:

I've been using the Beta 4.0 version of Firefox - no problem like that here.

Yeah, I know it sounds strange, but this goes on all the time! I get a lot of different avatars when using Firefox, sometimes in the same place, and sometimes in the bottom right corner, but they only last a day or two. This one has lasted 3 days. It doesn't happen on the other laptop or the IPad:confused:

If I did this right, this is how it looks:

I have no idea sir. Hopefully an administrator will know.... here is what I would do if it were me.

When looking at posts, is it just your posts that has an extra avatar? FYI, I only see your avatar when reading your posts.

What happens if you temporarily use NO avatar, is Russ gone?

Then re-add your avatar image, did that help?

memason 03-16-2011 08:28 AM

If it's any consolation, we only see the green dot next to your avatar...

It's a bit strange that it only happens with Firefox....

Tis a puzzlement

LaryB, don't change a thing you and Russ make a mighty fine couple....

Do you have poltergiests?

AJ, it's not just my avatar, it replaces the green dot for anyone online. I will try your suggestions, and thanks for the help.

Thanks for the compliment, but I think I'm not doing Russ any justice. I'm thinking of having some work done on my tongue:thumbup::thumbup:

Told you I had no idea :)

laryb 03-16-2011 08:59 AM

AJ, I removed my avatar, and here's what happened...

As you can see, I may have to change my screen name to russb!:D

ajbrown 03-16-2011 09:05 AM

Very funny...

So all the posts you see have Russ as the online dot? Right click on Russ and look at properties. What is the image location? Here is what it should be
https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...ser_online.gif

How about the offline dot, who is that image :)?

I wonder if the Russ' image has been cached locally as the "online dot". Would clearing image cache help?

AJ, when I right clicked on Russ's avatar, "properties" wasn't an option, but your clearing cache suggestion made sense. Since I didn't know how to do that, I decided to shutdown and reboot. Well, it's working properly for now, no more Russ, just the green online button. Maybe when we're down full time in May, all of us Southern Mass guys can get together! Thanks again
