Seal Plastic Bags with Old Bottle Caps

Clever use of bottle tops to seal plastic bags

The guy who first thought of the idea should be given an award for originality!!! Seal Plastic Bags with Old Bottle Caps

Cut up a disposable water bottle and keep the neck and top, as in photo.

Insert the plastic bag through the neck and screw the top to seal.

The bag is made to be air-tight, such that water will not leak, the secret lies with the top and screw cap! This is a great idea to share.
Good for us and the environment too.

Zip-top bags are great, but sometimes you buy something in bulk and you're stuck with an unsealable bag.

Brilliant! Like the paper clip.

Looks great, but has anybody tried this? It seems that the cut part of the plastic bottle would tear the plastic bag . . . or am I missing something?

One could always put some tape on the cut edge to help minimize the possibility of tearing the plastic bag. I generally just tie a knot in the bag, but it does make opening it a pain.

It looks like (in pic #2) that the excess top of the plastic bag is wrapped around the cutting edge of the bottle top.

Yes, Barb, but I'm talking about the other end of the bottle top. The part that was cut with the scissors sets against the full part of the bag.

A friend sent me this in an e-mail, and I thought the same thing... It is also very easy to cut yourself on the bottle edges. I remember making bird feeders with empty bottles with my kids ...very carefully!
