Are charcoal grills allowed in TV?
 

I know there are suppose to be a lot of things that you can't have.

I hope so, because my DH brought his smoker down!

Oh Good... I don't want to give up my Weber. And I have a smoker too.

Don't know how to cook on propane or electric, don't want to know. I'd be up the proverbial creek without a paddle if I couldn't use my bbq -- 35+ years old, a very beloved, beat-up charcoal grill but still cooks food that is truly mouthwatering. Not being allowed by bbq would be a total deal-breaker and I've been in TV 4 years now.

Can't see that it would be different from a home. We dispose of ours when thoroughly cool.

But dispose where? We had 5 acres in NC and you could still make a pile after awhile.

I wish I could say something different - but we just put them in the trash. Again - carefully.... when cold and usually a little damp. Having a home here is really no different from a villa in terms of dumping stuff. We have a good sized lot - but there is no place to dump the coals.

But - my very traditional charcoal-grilling hubs doesn't even want to think about going to gas. One reason we picked our lot is due to the shape and proximity to our neighbors house. We didn't want to put off new neighbors with charcoal smoke...

I have a guy next door who sings the praises of his charcoal grill....that my gas grill can't compare....I got some hickory bark let it soak over nite in Pepsi....next evening turned my gas grill on med heat...put bark in a foil pan dumped in another can of soda let it boil off and the smoke fill the entire neighborhood...was a great smell for everyone to enjoy.... Btw we threw some cheap hot dogs on....they were great but was more fun making the neighbors hungry with the haze it left over the neighborhood

That's the answer Kate. I have one of those charcoal grills that has a hole in the bottom an a removable ash collector under it and you put your coals on a grate over the sweep out hole before use. Before the next use you can slide out the ash collector and put the cold ashes in a bag and into the trash. It's really quite simple.

I have TWO smokers and I don't want to give 'em up.

We "smokers" should get together and compare notes...

BTW-I am a Kansas City Barbeque Society "Certified Barbeque Judge" and will be judging at the State of Maine Barbeque championship in just over a month !
