We need a picture scanning service

Does anyone in The Villages know of a picture scanning service? We have lots of old photos and would like to put them on a CD/DVD. Although we do have a scanner, it would take us forever to do 100-300 photos. Looking forward to hearing from other Villagers. LB

It's a very simple procedure, especially if you already have a scanner you must know how to scan. If you choose to not try it yourself, you may want to give thought to recruiting a student to come to your home and work on the project and pay him. I guess I would suggest you call the school here in TV and talk to the staff about this. I would be cautious to not trust a stranger, but to trust someone who has been recommended as being trustworthy and capable of the job. It would no doubt be less expensive than having Wal-Mart or the like send it out, if they do that sort of business. The student would no doubt be pleased to earn the money.

Suggestion: I would NOT take the pictures and have them done anywhere but your home. Those pictures are your treasure and to leave them with a stranger, I would not let them out of my sight!! They are irreplaceable!!

Try the photo departments at Walmart or CVS.
They have the scanners, you just scan your pictures to a DVD. Not that expensive, good results. Probably the same set-up in other stores.

Scanned Photos

I scanned over 6,000 photos with relative ease. I first bought a mid-price HP scanner. You can lay 4 - 6 photos on the scanner bed and it will scan them separately.

Slides were more difficult. The scanner instructions said it could do slides, but the quality was not so good. So i took the slides to a photo shop in Leesburg - they turned out great!

I'd be glad to help you with this. Just PM me.

It is easy to do with the right set up. Try it. I watch golf, baseball, basketball, or football on the television and scan in to my computer and back them up on a stand alone hard drive. Then edit them into folders I want and finally make copies of the folders for the kids and grandkids to find some day. It will be a wonderful treasure to discover.
