Rock Albums

I was talking with some friends the other evening about the good old days of rock and roll albums. The question was asked to name the albums you wore out the groves listening to in your younger years. Also the album that every song on the album was played on the radio and not just a cut or two. Here are a few that came up.

Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon. Nothing needs to be said about that great one.

J. Geils Band - Full House (Live). Had to listen to that as loud as your system could handle.

Yes - The Yes Album
. Every cut was played on the radio back in the day and still a great album.

Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II
. Again nothing needs to be said about that great one of all the Zep albums.

We've got to add Crosby, Stills, Nash + Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young to this list.

Oh, I thought of three more. One time in the early 2000s, my older brother asked me if I could think of any 60s greats whose music so nailed the 60s that the music would never be recorded at another time.

He said, "Loving Spoonful". I thought, no because "Summer in the City" could have been recorded later. Two singers jumped into my head immediately though.

I loved both, and I'm curious if you agree with me that their music was so thoroughly the 60s that it would never have been recorded at another time. My picks for that distinction: Melanie and Donovan

I completely agree, Pturner. I think Richie Havens is another for that list.
