Lunch at Tierra del Sol - Oy Vey!

I must say, I'm fairly tolerant, but this was a bit surprising to me. We were 5 women having lunch. Some ordered soup. The soup was very salty and one woman had a hard time with the "spicyness/saltiness" of the soup. She couldn't eat it. I enjoyed the soup, but it did have ALOT of salt or had high sodium. She asked for bread. "sorry, no bread". Well, do you have a roll? "sorry, no rolls but we have crackers." Well, you make sandwiches..may I have some bread? She insinuated a charge. Do you have another soup? "Yes". She brings it out...thick, goopy, brocolli cream soup. We all gagged at the sight of it!!! She could have had heartburn for a week on that sight! She couldn't handle it. It looked disgusting. At this point, we felt our waitress was not able to be creative with some alternative. We finally asked for the owner. "How can I help you"? Our friend said, the soup was too salty or peppery, spicy. "No one else has ever complained." was his response. (GUILT) "There is no salt or pepper in the soup. Huh? (WE ARE STUPID) At this point it was funny. I make the soup he said!!!!" He took offense and was defensive. Well, you are the baker here, do you not even have a roll? "no, we have no rolls". Do you have a bread stick" "No, we have no bread sticks". I am surprised at his lack of customer service and also felt the waitresses were under his thumb so much, that they had no flexibility to make any unilateral decisions in favor for customer satisfaction.

We had a lovely dinner several weeks ago and it was wonderful! Their entertainment was also wonderful. But this lunch was a doozer. Has anyone else had any contact or negative experiences with this owner? He was SOOOOOOOOO wonderful at dinner time and then he appeared to be a grouchy monster at lunch time. (behind closed doors?) My friend was handed the bill, even though she returned both her soups. "You will be charging me for soups that I could not eat?" The waitress took the bill away from her. I am afraid her unilateral decision for doing that, may have cost her the bill. I don't know. My friend went home and opened a can of soup for herself. I felt so bad for her. It was NOT a nice lunch, but we laughed anyway to keep our sense of humor. Any thoughts on this incident folks? Have you had a similar experience?
