In Gainesville a 10 ft. Alligator "resists arrest"
In Gainesville FL a 10 ft. alligator that was being monitored by an Alachua County Deputy attacked the car and heavily damaged the car's front bumper in the process.
A trapper eventually showed up and the resisting gator was sadly put down under the state's alligator nuisance law. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nrfvNsbdYQ&feature=player_embedded[/ame] |

I found out ,after a few encounters, that the regulation is clear. If a gator is less than 4' long, it can be relocated. Over 4', it will return to wherever it was living, like many other animals, and create all sorts of mayhem on the way. A gator is considered a nusiance if it appears to have lost it's natural fear of humans.

Now thats a real bite out of crime!!!! hahaha
On a serious note....I am not a huge animal rights activist but people are infinging on the alligators habitat. People and alligators don't mix so well. It would be too sad if there were no more alligators!!!! Let alone upsetting the natural eco system of areas!!! That is why it is sad he had to be put down!
