Cooking Classes - The Vilages Lifelong Learning College

The Lifelong Learning College offers a number of Cooking classes. Most of them are taught by Joy and Roger Dudis. I am looking for anyone who has first hand information about these classes. At first blush they seem quite expensive at $50+ per person for a 3-4 hour class. Assume the cost includes food cost and it appears that they take you to their home for the classes.

My question is: Have you ever attended any of these classes? If so, are they worth the charge.

My reaction from reading the summaries is that it's impossible to teach a cooking class that creates 6-10 meals in 3/4 hours.

Want to keep an open mind and hear from anyone who might have taken one or more of these classes.

Your opinion counts!

I have not attended their class. I hope to some day. I have taught some cooking and what I usually do is prepare a complete meal from appetizer to salad to main course and dessert plus pair with the correct wines. That can run up to $50 per person pretty quick. Now I give everyone all the recipes and they also get a complete 4 or 5 course meal with wine. Usually limit it to 8 people so figure $400 with all the food, printing recipes and wines which is about half or that amount. I usually make zero. But I do it because I enjoy doing it. My guess is they do as well.

Cooking Classes - The Villages Lifelong Learning College

I've taken 4 different classes from Joy and Roger. I had a blast in the classes. Joy is a real comedian and Roger plays a great straight man. She demos 6-8 dishes (not meals) per class and all the food is served to the class along with wine (bloodly marys for the brunch) Everyone gets a copy of each recipe. Just about everything I've eaten has been delicious and simple to prepare.

Welcome to Talk of the Villages mountaineergirl. The classes sound like a blast. Thanks for the information. My husband and I had talked about signing up for one when things settle down a little.
