Doc Dos & Don'ts
Would very much appreciate recommendations for a General Practitioner, and any Specialists you can recommend. Looking for Doctors that know how to listen well, in addition to being highly competent.
Also, if you know of any to be avoided please send a Private Message. I would not want to encourage any negatve comments on the forum. Moving soon... Thank You! |

I'm sure there are many talented Drs. We have found Allen Schwartz across from TooJays at Sumter Landing to be very communicative, a great listener, quite capable, good background, very attentive.
PS I'm not sure how to send a private message but Dr Kraucek ,in Southern Trace, was just not 'our cup oif tea'. |
Send a PM
carol:
To send a PM. Left click on the name of the person you want to send it to and a drop down box will appear. One of the options will be to send a PM. Hope this helps. |
Thanks, Carol. This is the kind of referral that we are looking for. There is no substitute for personal experience and word of mouth referrals when it comes to narrowing the field. I'm sure this kind of information will be helpful to others as well!

Thanks very much once again for this information!
We are about to make the move. Recommendations for Specialists, i.e. Cardio, Intestinal, Ear Nose & Throat (also a Dentist) would be greatly appreciated! THANKS! |

I've found by asking many people who they would recommend or ot recommend is helpful. I've also found if you can speak to others in the health-field here in TV, they too can shed some light (you need to be discerning) with recommendations as well. Sometimes it "is" luck of the draw as well. What I've also done is to go to the Internet and view any information regarding the providers. Trainig and year's of service also can be of help.

Allen Schwartz
As far as I'm concerned, good riddance to the "good" doctor. At my last visit his sage advice was for me to stop all artificially sweetened soft drinks and my problems would go away. However, he didn't bother to talk to me first or even ask if I drank artificially sweetened drinks. His nurse was in the room at the time and looked at the doctor as though he were crazy. I'm not sure of his mental state, but let's just say at that point he ceased being my doctor.
His advice to me was based on a conversation he had with friends - who had a friend - that was in terrible physical condition. Their friend's physician, according to the story, gave him the advice to stop artificially sweetened soft drinks. Sure enough, within a week all of the friends maladys had disappeared and he was the picture of good health. Dr Schwartz took this anecdotal information to heart and passed the recommendation on to me as a time-tested panacea. Schwartz completely ignored the reason I came to see him in the first place. And, unfortunately for me, two days later I was admitted to Leesburg Region Medical Center where I spent the next 23 days. This is a true story. |

However, let me say that I have now been through 4 internal med docs here in TV and hopefully the latest one, will be the last. Most docs here treat us like we are all demented senior citizens, so much so, that last July I returned to Los Angeles to meet with all my past docs for check ups... Its that bad here, sorry to say. Good luck, but I think its a crap shoot with the doctors here. However, I do have a great dentist,,, Dr. Stills, in Laurel Manor Professional complex. He is a very good dentist. |
